Wellways
Fairfield Melbourne
Set along Heidelberg Road, the project transforms an existing workplace into a contemporary mental health support hub shaped by care, connection, and community wellbeing. Informed by its proximity to local parkland, the design adopts a softer, more open approach balancing privacy and interaction through carefully calibrated spaces. A restrained palette of timber, muted tones, and integrated joinery brings warmth and clarity, reducing institutional cues while maintaining durability. Delivered within a $4M budget, the project prioritises spatial quality and everyday experience, creating an environment that feels intuitive, inclusive, and quietly supportive.
Architecture Shaped Through Collaboration
Gathering space at Wellways emerged from a process of close engagement with stakeholders ensuring environment supports learning, dialogue and shared experience.
Rows of seating orient toward presentation space, while coffered timber ceiling forms acoustic canopy above. Warm materials and soft light create calm setting for conversation, reflection and community connection.
Shared Spaces Designed for Connection
Kitchen hub becomes more than a place to prepare food it’s a space for gathering, conversation and everyday rituals. Soft curves, warm colours and natural materials create an environment that feels welcoming and familiar, encouraging people to sit, pause and spend time together.

A Room Within A Room
Curved glazing and a continuous aluminium frame define the boundary while maintaining transparency and visual connection.
Inside, softer materials and acoustic treatments create a more intimate environment for collaboration and quiet work.
“I approached the project by really listening working closely with stakeholders to shape a space that feels considered, respectful, and genuinely supportive. In many ways its a dream project allowing us to strengthen the connection to the surrounding environment while creating something that truly invites connection and supports people day to day.”
